Hospitals can be distressing places for elderly with dementia. An outdoor space with the relaxing sound of flowing water can create a calming and comfortable refuge for dementia patients and their caregivers, reducing anxiety and agitation, however, the hot climate in Singapore can be uncomfortable for patients. Through developing a functional, scaled prototype of an evaporative cooling driven pod incorporating the sound of flowing water, the team aims to provide EGH with a solution to address these needs that is adaptable and modular to be integrated in the hospital’s future landscaping plans.
